The United Kingdom is one of the most popular destinations for Indian students, with a rich history of academic excellence, globally recognised qualifications, and a diverse, multicultural society. The UK is home to some of the world's oldest and most prestigious universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College London, and the London School of Economics.
The UK education system offers bachelor's degrees (3 years), master's programmes (1 year), and doctoral degrees (3–4 years). The shorter duration of UK degrees makes them highly cost-effective compared to 2-year master's programmes in the USA or Canada. A UK master's degree is globally recognised and highly valued by employers.
The United Kingdom consists of England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. London is the capital and one of the world's leading financial, cultural, and academic centres. The UK has a population of approximately 67 million and English is the official language, making it an ideal destination for Indian students.
Post-Brexit, the UK introduced the Graduate Route Visa which allows international students to work in the UK for 2 years (3 years for PhD graduates) after completing their degree. This is a significant benefit for Indian students seeking work experience in the UK after graduation.
The UK has been attracting students from around the world for centuries.

Indian students need a UK Student Visa (formerly Tier 4) to study in the UK for more than 6 months.
The UK Student Visa replaced the old Tier 4 visa in October 2020. To apply, you need a CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) number from your UK university, proof of English language proficiency, financial evidence (28 consecutive days of bank statements showing sufficient funds), and a valid passport.
