Spain is a nation with high mountain ranges and plateaus such as the Sierra Nevada and Pyrenees dominating mainland Spain. It is home to many rivers running from the mountain heights like the Guadalquivir, the Tagus, the Duero, and Ebro. To the offshore of the Mediterranean lie the Balearic Islands and the self-governing Canary Islands can be seen off the African coast.
Spain is a constitutional monarchy, with a hereditary monarch and a parliament with two chambers: the Cortes. Linguistic and cultural diversity was valued in the 1978 constitution. The nation has 17 autonomous communities (regions) which all have their own directly elected authorities. Communities like Galicia, the Basque Country, and Catalonia have regional languages with official status alongside Spanish.
Spain has a long tradition of academic excellence. The University of Salamanca, founded in 1218, is one of Europe's oldest universities. Today, Spain has over 80 universities educating approximately 1.5 million students. Spanish universities offer globally recognised degrees at some of Europe's most affordable tuition fees.
Studying in Spain gives Indian students access to world-class business schools (IE, ESADE, IESE), excellent engineering and science programmes, a rich cultural experience, and the opportunity to learn Spanish — the world's second most spoken language. Spain is also the gateway to Latin America for career opportunities.
Spain combines academic excellence with an unmatched European lifestyle and affordable cost of education.

Indian students need a Spanish Long-Stay Student Visa (Visado de Larga Duración - Tipo D) to study in Spain for more than 90 days.
The Spanish Student Visa (Type D) is issued by the Spanish Embassy in India and is valid for the duration of your academic programme. Once in Spain, students must apply for the Tarjeta de Identidad de Extranjero (TIE) — the Spanish residence card for foreigners.
