Admission Requirements

Malaysian universities have clear and transparent admission requirements. The process is straightforward, and many institutions have dedicated India liaison teams to assist with applications.

English Language Requirements

IELTS: 5.5–6.0 overall for undergraduate; 6.0–6.5 for postgraduate. Many universities waive IELTS if the applicant's Class X and XII were in an English-medium school (CBSE/ICSE/State Board in English). PTE Academic and TOEFL are also accepted. Foundation programmes are available for students who need to improve their English before entering degree programmes.

Academic Requirements (Undergraduate)

Minimum 50–60% in Class XII for most programmes. Engineering and science programmes require Physics, Chemistry/Biology, and Mathematics at Class XII. Business programmes accept any stream. Medical programmes (MBBS) require Biology, Chemistry, and Physics with a minimum of 70%.

Academic Requirements (Postgraduate)

Minimum second-class honours or equivalent (50–60% in bachelor's). CGPA of 2.5–3.0 on a 4.0 scale for most master's programmes. PhD applicants require a strong master's degree and a well-developed research proposal. Work experience (2+ years) is preferred for MBA programmes.

Statement of Purpose (SOP)

A 400–600 word SOP is required for most postgraduate programmes. It should cover your academic background, reasons for choosing Malaysia and the specific institution, career goals, and why the programme is the right fit. Prosper Overseas' SOP specialists have an excellent track record.

Documents Required

Academic transcripts and certificates, valid passport, passport-size photographs, English language test results (where required), SOP and CV (for postgraduate), reference letters (for postgraduate and research programmes). Some medical programmes require NEET scores.
