Phase 1: Foundation & Eligibility
Valid Passport Must be valid for at least six (6) months beyond the date of entry into Malaysia, with a minimum of two blank pages.
Recent Photographs Two (2) recent, passport-sized colour photographs with a white background.
Completed Application Form IMM.47 form for a visa, filled out accurately and signed. Many applications are now submitted online.
Visa Fee Payment Receipt Proof of payment for the non-refundable visa processing fee.

Phase 2: Core Documentation (Pass-Specific Evidence)
Flight Itinerary A confirmed return or onward flight ticket.
For Social Visit Pass/Tourist Visa • Proof of Accommodation (hotel bookings or invitation letter from host). • Proof of Sufficient Funds (bank statements, cash). • Travel Itinerary.
For Student Pass • Offer Letter from a recognized Malaysian educational institution. • Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) application approval. • Academic transcripts and certificates.
For Employment Pass • Job Offer Letter from a Malaysian company. • Approval Letter from Malaysian Ministry of Home Affairs (required before visa application). • Detailed Resume/CV and certified qualifications.
For MM2H Program • Proof of Financial Assets (offshore income & liquid assets). • Medical Report from approved panel hospital. • Medical Insurance valid in Malaysia.
Phase 3: Proof of Financial Capacity
Bank Statements Last 3-6 months of personal or company bank statements showing consistent balance and sufficient funds.
Sponsorship Letter (if applicable) A letter from a sponsor in Malaysia (citizen or resident) with a copy of their MyKad and financial documents.
Proof of Employment/Income A letter from your current employer stating your position, salary, and length of employment, or business registration documents.
Phase 4: Additional Formalities
Medical Examination Report Required for long-term passes (Student, Employment, MM2H). Must be conducted by a registered panel clinic/hospital.
Police Clearance Certificate (Good Conduct Certificate) Often required for long-term passes like Employment Pass and MM2H.
Visa Collection Some visas are issued as a sticker in the passport, while others may be an e-Visa or a pass issued upon arrival.
Phase 5: The Digital & Proactive Edge
e-Visa Platform Many nationalities can apply for a tourist e-Visa online via the official Malaysia e-Visa portal.
MySEV for Visa-Free Travel Check if you are eligible for the Visa-Free program to Singapore and Thailand via the MySEV system.
Digital Copies Have soft, colour scans of every document ready for upload during the online application process.
Check Entry Requirements Ensure you have all documents printed and in order for presentation to immigration officials upon arrival.
